Purplebear's Purple Shopping story

Here’s the story of how Purplebear’s Purple Shopping came to be. I’ll start at the very beginning.  In 2003, I decided to create a website. I knew absolutely nothing about even where to begin. I started with a free web hosting site and used the site builder they had to create one. Since I love the color purple, I got very frustrated when it turned out looking lime green instead of purple. Determined to have a purple site, I taught myself enough HTML to achieve this goal. I definitely am not a computer coding expert, but I was able to learn enough to create my first website. I actually really enjoy the creativity of it all. Being someone who only had a high school education and had never even seen a computer until a few years earlier, I had to admit to being a teeny bit proud of my accomplishment.

I decided to try to find a way to make a little money from my sites so I could at least pay for web hosting and domain names. I found one way to do this through affiliate marketing. I’ll try to explain what that is. If you visit my site and then click on a link, that link will direct you to the merchant’s site. If while there, you purchase something I will receive a small commission from that merchant. There’s no added cost to you by doing this. The price for that product is the same price regardless of whether it’s purchased through an affiliate link or directly from a merchant. Think of it as being part of a merchant’s marketing. You’ve probably already done this without knowing you were doing it.

Through the years, I created a few other sites. One was about hummingbirds, another has purple jewelry on it, and my husband and I created a site about purple flowers and plants. My husband took all the photos, mostly from our garden, that were placed on the website. That caused him to really take an interest in photography, which led to us making Purplebear’s Photography. That website contains photos from our walks when we’re fortunate to see animals, birds, and other wildlife.

This brings me now to Purplebear’s Purple Shopping. On this site, I decided to just have purple products on it. I know the color purple is fairly popular, and I definitely know I’m always looking for something to be purple when I’m shopping. I thought there would be others interested in shopping for purple products, so that’s how this website came to be.

I also like teddy bears, and you’ll see that through my sites. While creating my first site, two friends, Eth and Linda helped me. Eth is the very talented person who created the logo for the site, and Linda is the very talented person who has made most of the bears you see on the site. I hope you like this site and feel free to share it with others you know who love the color purple or even those who don’t. Thanks for visiting, and if any of you would like to contact me, I’d love to hear from you.
